Professional Development
In 2014 I caught my first baby in Kalacha, Kenya. This encouraged me to pursue midwifery education to improve my skills and provide safe care.
I took classes with Ancient Art Midwifery Institute until 2017, when the school changed ownership and I began my hands on apprenticeship with Full Circle Midwifery. In 2019 I completed my Certified Professional Midwifery training and began to practice as a midwife, holding a midwifery license in the state of Michigan.
From 2019 to the present I have volunteered at Dukana Health Centre in North Horr Subcounty. I am currently also licensed as a midwife in the state of Texas. I graduated from Midwives College of Utah with my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery in September, 2024.
I aim to develop a childbirth education curriculum for under resourced people which would compassionately share the Gospel. I hope to become certified in the Helping Mothers and Babies Survive curriculum and to train birth providers in obstetric and newborn emergencies.
Personal Development
I am working to to improve my ability to speak and read Kiswahili and to learn Afaan Gabra to level 3 (I am currently speaking at a level 1 or 2).
I work hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy foods, controlling my weight. and work to continue to develop my personal fitness through cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and daily walking. As a midwife, I try to maintain a lifestyle that I would want my clients to aim for.
I enjoy reading non birth related books such as P.G. Wodehouse's delightful stories about Psmith and Love Among the Chickens. I also love the outdoors, walking and hiking in remote places. I love to grow plants and study medicinal plants in East Africa.
