Goals
Goal #1: The undergraduate program aims to prepare graduates to practice at the full scope of the Certified Professional Midwife credential through the demonstration of broad, integrative, and specialized knowledge.
Goal #2: The undergraduate program aims to advance equity and access in midwifery, as well as to prepare graduates to serve in diverse communities in culturally safe, ethical, and collaborative ways.
Goal #3: The undergraduate program aims to prepare graduates for reflective practice and a perpetual commitment to advancing quality and professional direct-entry midwifery.
Professional Goals
Goal #1: I am currently a licensed midwife in Texas. I aim to graduate from Midwives College of Utah with my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery in August, 2024.
Goal #2: I plan to return to Kenya to continue to provide midwifery care in my community, increasing home visits to ensure all clients in Dukana receive antenatal and postnatal care.
Goal #3: I am developing a childbirth education curriculum for nomadic people living in Northern Kenya which also shares the Gospel.
Goal #4: I aim to become certified in the Helping Babies Breathe curriculum.
Personal Goals
Goal #1: I aim to improve my ability to speak and read Kiswahili and to learn Afaan Gabra to level 3 (I am currently speaking at a level 1 or 2).
Goal #2: I aim to continue to develop my personal fitness through cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and daily walking.
Goal #3: I aim to read at least 12 non birth related books in the next year. Books on my list include a Johnny Cash (a biography), Death of a Guru, The Screwtape Letters, and Aviva Romm's Herbal Medicine for Women.
